Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is considered a gold-standard, evidence-based counseling approach. It refers to a triangle in which our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. Together, we work on identifying how to change one aspect of the triangle to impact the other two parts in more beneficial ways. This includes changing what are referred to as cognitive errors, which are common yet unhelpful traps in our thought processes, to start thinking in ways to better support yourself.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR therapy is an evidence-based trauma treatment that taps into the inherent healing abilities of your brain and body. The most recognizable aspect of EMDR is what is called “bilateral stimulation” using eye movements, audio tones, or tapping to activate both sides of the brain and body to reprocess difficult memories. While EMDR does not change the facts of what we have experienced and does not condone what happened, it stops the suffering and allows us to move forward.
Deep Brain Reorienting
(DBR)
DBR is type of trauma therapy that clears traumatic shock on a physiological level by addressing the underlying block to the healing response. It can lead to unlocking the innate healing abilities of your nervous system. This treatment option can be used for recent events or issues from the past with minimal focus on the memory being treated and an emphasis on being centered in the present moment. For some people, it is more easily tolerated than other trauma therapy modalities.
